CLASS INFORMATION

 D & G Occasions is happy to offer a variety of courses to meet your decorating needs. Currently we are offering classes in:

  • 3-D Gelatin Art Series

 Fondant Cake Series

Join Food Network Chocolate Challenge competitor, Chef Lucy Martin, as she demonstrates a variety of techniques using fondant, gum paste, royal icing, and other mediums.  Each course is designed to stand on its’ own and uses different techniques each time.   In every course students will design and create their own tiered cakes using methods shown.  There is a small list of materials required for each class and 50% deposit is required at time of booking.

Fondant Skills Course

Level - Beginner/Intermediate

In this class students will be assisted in designing and creating their own 2 tier special occasion cake following the demos on various techniques. 

 

 Topics include:

  • handling and covering the cake with fondant
  • stacking and support of the cake
  • transporting the cake
  • design concepts (colors, themes, styles, etc)

 

Some of these techniques include: gathered pleats, ribbon insertion, lace, multi-colored loopy bow, monograms, drapery, royal icing piping patterns, and piped butterflies.  

                                                    

 





Techniques vary in every Fondant Skills Course so students can take more than one class and always learn new things!  Efforts are made to show specific techniques requested.

  • covering them with fondant
  • choose your own color palette for this fun cake
  • techniques include: curlicues, quilling flowers, applique flowers, ruffle flowers, drapery, stripes, bows.

CAKE DECORATING SERIES

Chocolate Ganache Torte & Chocolate Roses

Fundamentals of Cake Decorating

New to cake decorating?

Decorating a cake takes more than just creativity and a steady hand. In this 5 1/2 hour intensive classyou will decorate your own butter cream cake while picking up tricks of the trade from Chef Martin. 

In this class students will learn:

  • how to cut cakes to torte them
  • make Swiss Meringue Butter Cream
  • trouble shooting butter cream
  • fill and cover torte flawlessly
  • simple piping borders, rosettes, leaves, and writing.
 

Each student will be supplied with their own cake to work on and take home to enjoy with friends and family!

Piping Boot Camp

Level - Beginner 4.5 Hour Course

Piping is a foundation of cake decorating.  Whether you are a beginner or just in need of a little help to get to the next level, join us as we use a variety of tips to create versatile and fun borders.  We will also be practicing several flowers; roses, chrysanthemums, daisies, sunflowers, and others.

 

All materials are provided.
